Crosswise ridged cloth
Faille is a soft, slightly ribbed fabric with a subtle sheen, typically made of silk, rayon, or taffeta.
The ribs run crosswise and are finer than grosgrain.
Faille appears in formal wear, bridal gowns, and structured garments where a refined texture is wanted: a faille evening jacket, ivory faille for the bodice.
