expansion packs
Content extending games
Expansion packs are supplemental content released after a video game's initial launch, adding new features, levels, characters, or storylines to extend gameplay.
They require the original game to function: The expansion pack adds three new worlds and a dozen playable characters.
The term also applies to add-on card sets for tabletop games like trading card games or board games.
