electrical short
Wiring failure cause
An electrical short, or short circuit, occurs when current flows along an unintended path of lower resistance, bypassing the normal circuit.
This typically happens when wires touch or insulation fails, allowing electricity to take a shortcut.
Shorts can cause sparks, blown fuses, or fires: The electrical short started in the basement wiring.
Often shortened to just short: There's a short somewhere in the system.
