dry yeast
Dehydrated bread starter
Dry yeast is yeast in dehydrated granular form, used to leaven bread and other baked goods.
Unlike fresh yeast, which is perishable, dry yeast keeps for months at room temperature.
It must be reactivated in warm water before use, or added directly to dry ingredients depending on the type: The recipe calls for one packet of dry yeast.
