dry cell
Flashlight power source
A dry cell is a type of battery where the electrolyte is a paste rather than a liquid, making it portable and leak-resistant.
Standard flashlight and remote control batteries are dry cells.
The term distinguishes them from older wet cell batteries that contained sloshing liquid: Replace the dry cells in the smoke detector annually.
