NiCad

Rechargeable cell type

NiCad is short for nickel-cadmium, a type of rechargeable battery.

NiCad batteries were once standard in cordless phones, power tools, and portable electronics before being largely replaced by lithium-ion technology.

They're known for the "memory effect"—losing capacity if recharged before fully depleted: These old NiCads won't hold a charge anymore.
