dorsal root ganglia
Spinal nerve bodies
Dorsal root ganglia are clusters of nerve cell bodies located along the spinal cord, just outside the vertebrae.
They contain sensory neurons that relay information—touch, pain, temperature, body position—from the body to the central nervous system.
Each spinal nerve has a dorsal root ganglion serving as a waystation for incoming sensory signals.
Singular: dorsal root ganglion.
