proprioceptors
Limb position detectors
Proprioceptors are sensory receptors in muscles, tendons, and joints that detect body position and movement.
They tell you where your limbs are without looking—how you can touch your nose with your eyes closed or walk without watching your feet.
The sense they provide is called proprioception: Athletes develop finely tuned proprioceptors through training.
