docksiders

Leather deck footwear

Docksiders are a style of casual leather boat shoe with a rubber sole designed for traction on wet surfaces, originally made for sailing.

The name comes from the Sperry brand's Docksides line, though it's applied generically to similar shoes: He wore khakis and docksiders to the cookout.

The style became preppy fashion in the 1980s.
