Dinner prep is the work of preparing ingredients and components for an evening meal—chopping vegetables, marinating meat, measuring spices.
The term appears frequently in meal-planning contexts, where people do dinner prep in advance to simplify cooking later: I do all my dinner prep on Sunday afternoons.
Sometimes shortened to just prep.
