differently abled
Physically or mentally impaired
Differently abled is a euphemism for disabled, emphasizing alternative capabilities rather than limitation.
The term emerged from disability advocacy but has fallen out of favor with many disabled people, who find it evasive or condescending—as if "disabled" were too harsh to say directly.
The center serves differently abled youth.
Most style guides now recommend "disabled" or "person with a disability."
