developpe
Leg slowly unfurls
A ballet movement in which the working leg is drawn up along the standing leg, then slowly extended and held in the air: Her developpé to the side showed exceptional control.
The term comes from the French for "unfolded," describing how the leg seems to unfurl from a compact position.
Also spelled développé with the accent.
