destock
Reduce stored goods
To destock is to reduce inventory or livestock holdings.
Retailers destock when they sell off merchandise without replacing it: The company destocked aggressively ahead of the merger.
Farmers destock by selling animals, often during drought when feed is scarce: Ranchers were forced to destock as pastures dried up.
The opposite is restock.
