demi-gods
Half-mortal, half-divine
Demi-gods are beings of partly divine and partly mortal parentage.
Greek mythology offers the classic examples: Hercules, born of Zeus and a human woman, possessed superhuman strength but remained subject to death.
The term extends to anyone revered as godlike—an athlete or celebrity treated with excessive devotion: Tech founders are the demi-gods of Silicon Valley.
Also spelled demigods.
