deconverted
Left the fold
Deconverted describes someone who has abandoned a religious faith they once held, particularly after a deliberate process of questioning or disillusionment.
The term is common in atheist and ex-religious communities: She deconverted from evangelical Christianity after college.
Unlike lapsed, which suggests drift, deconverted implies an active rejection of former beliefs.
