decompression chambers
Diver recovery rooms
Decompression chambers are sealed enclosures where air pressure can be gradually reduced, allowing divers or workers who've been in high-pressure environments to return safely to normal atmospheric pressure.
Without this gradual transition, dissolved gases in the blood can form dangerous bubbles—a condition called the bends.
The chambers also treat diving accidents and certain medical conditions requiring controlled pressure changes.
