decimeters

Ten-centimeter units

A decimeter is a unit of length in the metric system equal to one-tenth of a meter, or about 3.9 inches.

Though part of the standard metric hierarchy, decimeters see relatively little use in everyday measurement compared to centimeters and meters.

They appear most often in scientific contexts or European educational settings where metric relationships are being taught.
