cubits
Elbow-to-fingertip measures
Cubits is the plural of cubit, an ancient unit of length based on the distance from elbow to fingertip—roughly 18 inches or 45 centimeters.
The measurement appears most often in biblical contexts: Noah's ark was three hundred cubits long.
Outside historical or religious discussion, the word is rare.
