debouncing
Delay before registering
Debouncing is a programming technique that prevents a function from firing too frequently.
When a user types in a search box or resizes a window, dozens of events may trigger per second; debouncing delays execution until the action pauses: The autocomplete uses debouncing so it doesn't query the server on every keystroke.
The term comes from electronics, where mechanical switches "bounce" between on and off states before settling.
