death angels
Fatal white toadstools
Death angels are highly toxic mushrooms of the genus *Amanita*, particularly *Amanita bisporigera* and related species.
They're responsible for most fatal mushroom poisonings, containing amatoxins that cause liver and kidney failure.
The name reflects their pale white appearance and lethal nature: Foragers must learn to identify death angels before gathering wild mushrooms.
