dead man's float

Face-down water rest

Dead man's float is a basic swimming position where you float face-down in the water with arms and legs extended, remaining still and relaxed.

The name comes from its resemblance to a floating corpse.

It's often the first technique taught to beginners, demonstrating that the body naturally floats: She held a dead man's float for thirty seconds.
