back float
Faceup water rest
A back float is a swimming position where you lie face-up in the water with your body horizontal, letting buoyancy keep you at the surface.
It's often the first skill taught to beginners because it requires no movement—just relaxation and breath control: She taught her daughter to back float before anything else.
