daylight sensor
Sun-activated switch
A daylight sensor is a device that detects ambient light levels and triggers a response—typically switching lights on at dusk and off at dawn.
Common in outdoor lighting, streetlamps, and smart home systems: The porch light has a daylight sensor so we don't have to remember to turn it on.
Also called a photocell or photosensor.
