data backup
Copied file archive
A data backup is a copy of digital files stored separately from the original, created as protection against loss.
Backups guard against hardware failure, accidental deletion, theft, or ransomware.
The term covers both the process and the result: I run a data backup every night, The data backup saved us when the server crashed.
Often shortened to just backup.
