A dad bod is a male physique that's soft and slightly overweight rather than lean or muscular—the body of someone who enjoys beer and barbecues more than the gym.
The term emerged in the 2010s as affectionate acceptance of ordinary middle-aged male bodies: He's got a dad bod but he's comfortable with it.
Despite the name, you don't need to be a father to have one.
