cycloramas

Wraparound theatrical scenery

Cycloramas are large panoramic paintings or photographs displayed on the interior walls of cylindrical rooms, designed to give viewers standing at the center an immersive 360-degree view of a scene.

Popular in the 19th century, they often depicted battles or landscapes: The Atlanta Cyclorama depicts the 1864 Battle of Atlanta.

In theater, a cyclorama is a curved backdrop used to create the illusion of sky or infinite space.
