crookbacked

Bent spine condition

Crookbacked means having a crooked or hunched back—what would now be called a spinal deformity.

The word is archaic and literary, most familiar from Shakespeare's portrayal of Richard III: that poisonous bunch-backed toad, that crookbacked prodigy.

Modern usage would favor hunchbacked or simply describe the condition medically.
