counter-rotating

Turning against each other

Counter-rotating describes two things that rotate in opposite directions simultaneously.

The term appears most often in engineering and aviation: counter-rotating propellers spin in opposite directions to cancel out torque, improving stability and efficiency.

The mixer uses counter-rotating blades to knead dough more thoroughly.
