Silencing enemy guns
Counter-battery describes military fire directed at enemy artillery positions rather than at troops or other targets.
The goal is to neutralize or destroy the guns firing at your own forces: Counter-battery radar detected the source of incoming shells.
Counter-battery operations require quickly locating enemy positions and returning fire before they relocate.
