corium
Deep skin tissue
Corium has two distinct meanings.
In anatomy, the corium is the dermis—the layer of skin beneath the epidermis.
In nuclear disasters, corium is the molten mass of nuclear fuel, reactor components, and structural materials that forms when a reactor core melts down: The Chernobyl corium burned through the reactor floor.
