convex mirrors
Bulging reflective surfaces
A convex mirror curves outward toward the viewer, causing reflected images to appear smaller and providing a wider field of view than flat mirrors.
These mirrors are commonly mounted in parking garages, store aisles, and on vehicle side mirrors—anywhere peripheral vision matters.
The passenger-side warning "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" refers to this distortion.
