concave mirrors
Curved focusing surfaces
Concave mirrors curve inward, like the inside of a bowl.
They reflect light to a focal point, which makes them useful for magnification and focusing energy.
A shaving mirror or makeup mirror is concave, producing an enlarged image when held close to the face.
Concave mirrors also appear in telescopes, headlights, and satellite dishes.
