color value
How bright/dark something
Color value is the lightness or darkness of a color, independent of its hue.
A yellow and a purple can share the same value if they reflect equal amounts of light.
Artists and designers manipulate value to create contrast, depth, and emphasis: The painting's dramatic effect comes from its strong color values.
In color theory, value is one of three properties alongside hue and saturation.
- luminosityIntrinsic brightness of source
- true blackComplete absence of light
