color fade
Pigment losing intensity
A color fade is the gradual transition from one color to another, or from vivid to muted tones.
In design and photography, it describes intentional blending effects: The sunset created a beautiful color fade from orange to purple.
It also names the unwanted loss of color intensity over time—fabric fading in sunlight, photographs yellowing with age.
