Helicopter blade tilt
Collective pitch is the mechanism in a helicopter that changes the angle of all rotor blades simultaneously.
Increasing collective pitch makes the blades bite more air, generating lift; decreasing it reduces lift.
The pilot controls this with a lever, typically in the left hand, to climb, descend, or hover: She pulled up on the collective to gain altitude.
