codifications
Laws written down
Codifications are systematic arrangements of laws, rules, or principles into an organized code or written form.
The term most often appears in legal contexts, where scattered precedents and statutes get consolidated into coherent systems: the codifications of Roman law, recent codifications of international trade rules.
More broadly, any formalization of previously unwritten practices counts as codification: codifications of etiquette, codifications of musical notation.
