codicils
Testamentary document supplements
Codicils are supplements or amendments to a will.
Rather than rewriting an entire will, a person adds a codicil to modify specific provisions—changing beneficiaries, adding bequests, or updating instructions: She added a codicil leaving her jewelry to her niece.
Like wills, codicils require proper witnessing to be legally valid.
