closeouts
End-of-stock markdowns
Closeouts are items sold at deep discounts because a store or manufacturer is discontinuing them, clearing inventory, or going out of business.
The term also names the sales themselves: The furniture store is having a closeout.
Closeout merchandise may be last season's stock, excess inventory, or products from bankrupt companies—perfectly good goods that simply need to move.
