discount bins
Cheap goods receptacles
Discount bins are containers in retail stores holding merchandise marked down from regular price, typically clearance items, overstocked goods, or slightly damaged products.
The bins are often large, open-topped, and invite customers to dig through jumbled contents: I found this DVD in the discount bin for three dollars.
Figuratively, ending up in the discount bin suggests being devalued or cast off.
