click wheel
Circular scroll control
A click wheel is a circular touch-sensitive control that responds to finger movement around its circumference, most famously on early iPod music players.
Users would scroll through menus by running a finger clockwise or counterclockwise, with the wheel detecting direction and speed.
The center and cardinal points functioned as buttons.
The design became iconic of 2000s portable technology before touchscreens replaced it.
