classroom films
School instructional movies
Classroom films are educational movies produced specifically for showing in schools, typically running 10-30 minutes and covering a single topic.
The genre flourished from the 1940s through the 1970s, with films on subjects ranging from science and hygiene to social behavior: We watched a classroom film about the food pyramid.
Many are now remembered for their earnest tone and dated production values, making them objects of nostalgia or ironic appreciation.
