class struggles
Workers versus owners
Class struggles are conflicts between social groups with opposing economic interests—typically workers against owners, or the poor against the wealthy.
The term comes from Marxist theory, where class struggle is the engine of historical change: The revolution grew from decades of class struggle.
The plural often refers to specific historical or ongoing conflicts: the class struggles of the Industrial Revolution.
