clan wars
Family faction battles
Clan wars are organized competitions between groups of allied players in online multiplayer games, where clans—teams of players who've banded together under a shared name and identity—battle rival clans for ranking, resources, or bragging rights.
The term is particularly associated with strategy and mobile games like Clash of Clans: Our clan war starts at midnight.
More broadly, clan wars can describe any ongoing conflict between organized factions in gaming communities.
