clammers
Beach rake wielders
Clammers are people who dig for clams, typically along coastal tidal flats.
The term covers both commercial harvesters who make a living from it and recreational diggers: The clammers were out at low tide with their rakes and buckets.
In some coastal communities, clamming is a traditional livelihood passed down through generations.
