civic group
Local volunteer body
A civic group is an organization formed around shared community interests—neighborhood improvement, local politics, or public service.
Unlike social clubs, civic groups focus outward on improving conditions for the broader community: The civic group organized a cleanup of the riverfront.
Examples include the Rotary Club, League of Women Voters, and local neighborhood associations.
