circlip
Grooved shaft fastener
A circlip is a C-shaped metal ring that snaps into a groove to hold components in place on a shaft or inside a bore.
The open ends allow the ring to be compressed or expanded for installation using special pliers.
Also called a snap ring or retaining ring.
The circlip keeps the bearing from sliding off the axle.
