chuckwagons

Cowboys' mobile cafeterias

Chuckwagons are wagons equipped with cooking facilities, originally used to feed cowboys during cattle drives across the American West.

The chuck wagon carried food supplies, utensils, and a fold-down counter for meal preparation on the trail.

The term now also applies to food trucks or outdoor cooking setups at rodeos and western-themed events: The chuckwagon served biscuits and beans to hungry ranch hands.
