chosen ones
The specially picked
Chosen ones are people believed to be specially selected—by fate, prophecy, or divine will—for an extraordinary purpose.
The phrase appears constantly in fantasy and religious narratives: The prophecy spoke of a chosen one who would defeat the dark lord.
It often carries ironic weight when applied to people who consider themselves special or destined for greatness: Oh, so you're one of the chosen ones now?
