chocolate coating
Sweet outer layer
Chocolate coating is a layer of chocolate applied to the outside of candy, fruit, nuts, or other foods.
The term often distinguishes products with a thin outer shell from those that are solid chocolate throughout: The strawberries came with a dark chocolate coating.
In commercial contexts, "chocolate coating" or "chocolatey coating" may indicate a product that doesn't meet standards for real chocolate.
