Chemical crowd dispersant

Chloroacetophenone is a chemical compound used as a tear gas, commonly known by its military designation CN.

It causes burning sensations in the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.

Largely replaced by CS gas in riot control applications, it remains in some commercial self-defense sprays: The canister contained chloroacetophenone.
